East New York

An extended village in southeastern Brooklyn, New York. Comprising two zip codes and the 75th Precinct, it is an area known for its burnt-out buildings, fine, low-income housing projects, and institutions of lower education. The far eastern portion, once an Italian-American enclave, is still known as a dumping ground for former members of the Gambino crime family.
